The European Diamond Capacity Hub (EDCH), an OPERAS programme, is a community-driven collective that strengthens Diamond Open Access (OA) publishing across Europe through shared services and tools, facilitation of Diamond OA National Capacity Centres, training and community support.

As a shared and distributed infrastructure for the Diamond OA community, EDCH depends on collaboration and collective effort from organisations committed to sustainable, equitable scholarly communication. Funders, sponsors, donors,  libraries, research organisations, service providers and members of the wider scholarly communication community all have an important role to play in ensuring the long-term sustainability of EDCH.

Diamond OA relies on shared involvement and active participation by the scholarly community rather than publication fees charged to authors or readers. EDCH provides the services, tools, training and facilitation that enable collaboration, reduce duplication of effort, and make more effective use of resources across Europe.

Contributions to EDCH directly support activities that strengthen Diamond OA across Europe, including:

• facilitation, coordination, and alignment of National Capacity Centres
• development of shared publishing services and infrastructure
• training, guidance and capacity building of editorial staff
• coordination of community collaboration and knowledge exchange
• implementation of common standards and best practices; and
• the long-term sustainability of community-led scholarly publishing.
   

Become a Financial Contributor

EDCH is sustained through the commitment of organisations that recognise the importance of community-led scholarly publishing and want to invest in its long-term future. Financial contributors are key actors that financially contribute to the long-term sustainability of EDCH and Diamond OA. Their contributions support the continued development of EDCH services and tools, while helping shape strategic priorities and community activities. They contribute to the long-term sustainability of EDCH as a community-driven initiative for Diamond OA. 

Financial contributors participate actively in the governance of EDCH and are represented in the Steering Committee, where they help to guide the strategic direction of the EDCH.

Library Pilot Programme

Libraries have long played a central role in supporting open scholarly communication. Through the EDCH Library Pilot Programme (link to a separate webpage), libraries have the opportunity to contribute directly to the sustainability of shared Diamond OA infrastructure and services.

In-kind Contributions

EDCH also welcomes organisations that wish to contribute expertise, services or collaborative support for Diamond OA. Contributors undertake multi-annual responsibility for at least one EDCH Service or Tool, or one Task Force, as approved by the Steering Committee. Their in-kind contributions help expand and strengthen EDCH activities through technical development, training, community engagement, advocacy and other collaborative work that supports the development and advancement of Diamond OA.
