The AEGIS-OA (Activate European Guidance and Incentives for Sustainable Open Access publishing) project aims to create a high-quality, transparent, and sustainable open access scholarly publishing ecosystem in Europe. The project builds upon the existing European Diamond Capacity Hub (EDCH) and focuses on expanding its services to include Open Access books, in addition to journals. Its aim is to instrumentalise the Diamond Open Access Standard (DOAS) for both journals and books, develop training programs for publishing professionals, enhance access to publishing tools, and coordinate National Capacity Centres across Europe to align non-profit OA initiatives.

The ALMASI (Aligning and Mutualizing Nonprofit Open Access Publishing Services Internationally) project is a three-year EU-funded project uniting 15 partners to strengthen non-profit Open Access publishing across Africa, Latin America, and Europe. The project aims to build an aligned, high-quality, and sustainable scholarly communication ecosystem, supporting Diamond Open Access—free for both authors and readers. ALMASI will address regional needs, linguistic diversity, and disciplinary differences, while developing quality standards, training resources, and policy frameworks. By empowering scholarly communities, it seeks to enhance innovation, reliability, and accessibility in academic publishing.

Open Research Europe (ORE) was launched by the European Commission in 2021 offering an open access publishing platform for EU-funded research, ensuring high-quality, transparent publication processes. Since its inception and launch, ORE has provided researchers with an alternative publishing venue without author-facing fees that is focused on immediate publication of their outputs followed by quality assurance through open peer review. Starting in autumn 2026, ORE enters a new phase, hosted and operated by CERN, driven and co-financed by a consortium of research funding and performing organisations, along with the European Commission.
ORE aligns with a number of principles of Diamond Open Access (OA) publishing and fulfils five out of the six operational criteria for Diamond OA journals in EDCH’s Diamond Discovery Hub (DDH). OPERAS, through its European Diamond Capacity Hub (EDCH), works in partnership with the ORE consortium to strengthen outreach and community engagement across Europe, working towards new interactions between ORE and the Diamond OA journal community. In this way, we intend to foster trust in open publishing, and contribute to a more resilient, no-fee scholarly communication landscape in Europe and beyond.
The MOSAR (Modèle ouvert de soutien et d’accompagnement des revues / Open Model of Support and Guidance for Journals) project aims to support journals within the MSH Mondes perimeter towards Diamond Open Access Standards (DOAS), following an initial local survey across Paris 1 and Paris Nanterre. It will build a replicable service offering to enable the national and European dissemination of "editorial clinics".
Key partners of the project include MSH Mondes, Université Paris Nanterre, Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, and OPERAS/EDCH. The funding for the MOSAR project totals €152,944 (with €26,800 allocated to EDCH/OPERAS).
From April 2026 to April 2028.
The Diamant’AIR (Accompagner et Interconnecter les Revues diamant lorraines / Support and Interconnect Lorraine's Diamond Journals) project aims to create a local diamond capacity centre in Lorraine to consolidate and structure support services for the region's journals. It will also provide a model to replicate and extend this system to other French regions by interconnecting similar territorial initiatives.
Key partners of the project include the Université de Lorraine, INRAE, AgroParisTech, INIST, MSH Lorraine, and OPERAS/EDCH. The funding for the Diamant’AIR project totals €200,000 (with €30,300 allocated to OPERAS).

The DIAMAS (Developing Institutional Open Access Publishing Models to Advance Scholarly Communication) project aims to create a Common Access Point as a knowledge-exchange hub for Diamond Publishers and Publishing Service Providers by providing resources addressing the Diamond Open Access Standard (DOAS) and a virtual space supporting user interaction.
The Common Access Point lays the foundation for the European Diamond Capacity Hub, which integrates it into a virtual network of resources and regional/national Capacity Centres. Key outputs of DIAMAS, such as the online Toolsuite, the Registry, and the Forum, now form core features of the current European Diamond Capacity Hub.
The European Commission funded the DIAMAS project under HORIZON-WIDERA-2021-ERA-01 (grant agreement n. 101058007).

The CRAFT-OA (Creating a Robust Accessible Federated Technology for Open Access) project aims to consolidate the Diamond OA publishing landscape in close collaboration with the DIAMAS project. CRAFT-OA focuses on improving the technical and organisation infrastructure of Diamond OA through four threads of activities:
- Provide technical improvements for journal platforms and journal software.
- Build communities of practice to foster overall infrastructure improvement.
- Increase visibility, discoverability and recognition for Diamond OA publishing.
- Integrate Diamond OA publishing with EOSC and other large-scale data aggregators.
CRAFT-OA works to deliver technical and community tools, training events, training materials, information, and services for the Diamond OA institutional publishing environment. It aims to foster communities of practice that can sustain the project improvements over time.
