Brussels, Belgium, [18 September 2026]

The European Diamond Capacity Hub (EDCH) is pleased to announce new financial support from a group of French Research Performing Organisations, made possible through Couperin, strengthening their shared commitment to advancing sustainable and equitable Diamond Open Access (OA) publishing in Europe.

Support from the French research community

The EDCH is grateful to the following French institutions for their support:

Campus Condorcet

INRAE

INRIA

Sorbonne Université

Université de Lille

Université de Lorraine

Université Paris Nanterre

Their contribution reflects the growing engagement of French research institutions in building sustainable, community-led infrastructures for scholarly communication and strengthening Diamond OA at both national and European levels.

This support was made possible through Couperin, the French consortium bringing together higher education and research institutions and supporting collaboration around scholarly communication and information resources.

“EDCH is helping build a sustainable future for Diamond Open Access. Couperin is proud to facilitate support for this essential work.”

The funding will contribute to the EDCH’s ongoing activities, including community engagement, capacity building, training, outreach, and the development of services and infrastructures that support Diamond OA publishing across Europe.

“We are very pleased to welcome the support of French universities and research organisations through Couperin. Their contribution demonstrates the importance of institutional and national engagement in strengthening Diamond Open Access and in building shared European capacity. This support will help the EDCH continue developing services, connecting communities, and fostering a more sustainable and equitable scholarly communication ecosystem.”

— Pierre Mounier and Johan Rooryck, EDCH Co-coordinators

The support from these French organisations highlights the value of collective investment in Diamond OA and the role that national communities can play in shaping a stronger European scholarly communication landscape. Through their contribution, they are helping to connect French expertise and initiatives with the wider European Diamond OA community working towards sustainable, high-quality, community-led and equitable open publishing.
