Save the date: Diamond Open Access Festival, 23–25 February 2027
The Diamond Open Access (OA) community is coming together for its first online festival!
Organised by the AEGIS-OA consortium, the Diamond OA First Festival will take place on 23–25 February 2027, bringing together publishers, libraries, researchers, service providers, National Capacity Centres (NCCs) and everyone interested in community-led scholarly publishing.
Over three days, the festival will offer opportunities to exchange experiences in scholarly publishing, discover practical approaches, services and tools, learn from one another and build new connections across the European Diamond OA landscape.
The festival will focus on interactive participation, hands-on collaboration and community-building. The programme will combine workshops, practical demonstrations, community conversations, case studies and networking activities, alongside opportunities to showcase projects and initiatives.
The festival will explore three main themes:
- Diamond OA communities: sharing perspectives, initiatives and lessons learned from across countries and communities.
- Services, tools and capacity building: exploring publishing workflows, tools, services and practical approaches to strengthening Diamond OA.
- Collaboration and the future of Diamond OA: identifying shared challenges, opportunities and priorities for future collaboration.
The festival will also create space for National Capacity Centres and local Diamond OA communities to contribute their own perspectives and activities, including regional sessions and satellite events. Whether you are already actively involved in Diamond OA or just beginning to explore the model, there will be opportunities to take part, share ideas and connect with others.
The European Diamond Capacity Hub (EDCH) Forum will serve as the festival's online hub, supporting interaction and community engagement before, during and after the event.
📅 Save the dates: 23–25 February 2027
